The Cave ROVer Update: Second battery unit is in, charging and conditioned in preparation for our up coming robot cave dive in Florida. The additional power unit will be a fantastic addition, as present test dives have demonstrated our average operating time per dive at 1-2hrs depending on use. Also our charging unit average recharge time is ~30 minutes. Therefore the advantage of the 2nd power pack should in theory allow almost continuous use (charging faster then depletion) with only having to surface for change out. Very excited to reduce downtime. Future development will be in surface supplemental power for extended use in-field.
